Demonstrators in Ancona observed a minute of silence for Sofiane Boutraa and Kabir Mohidul, two Fincantieri workers who died in an accident at the shipyard on the evening of September 29. An activist said the marchers stood with the families in their grief and that the city would remember the workers.
The procession, held against the rising cost of living, set off from Piazza Ugo Bassi and was due to pass through central streets before ending in Piazza Stamira.
At the front, demonstrators carried a banner reading “Le monde est à nous.” Other signs included messages about education as an investment and the idea that silence makes people complicit.
