Two passenger flights heading to Warsaw from London and Copenhagen were checked on Tuesday following bomb threats. A LOT Boeing 737 MAX flying from London Heathrow was diverted to Warsaw-Modlin after an alert indicated that a bomb was on board, the airport operator said.
The aircraft landed at Modlin with 181 people on board and was moved to a remote stand for examination by specialists. It was evacuated and searched. The airport, around 35 kilometres outside the Polish capital, was closed until further notice while security checks were carried out.
The LOT flight had been scheduled to land at Warsaw Chopin Airport, where a separate threat targeted a SAS flight from Copenhagen. That aircraft was inspected after landing, the airport said, but operations at Chopin continued normally.
On Monday, a Wizz Air flight from London to Sofia was diverted to Budapest after a bomb threat, according to the report.
