Bonnie Tyler’s last studio recording, “Love, Light and Peace”, will be released as a Christmas single on November 13, 2026. The release comes after the singer died in July at the age of 75, following emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal earlier in the year.
Tyler’s husband of 50 years, Robert Sullivan, described the period since her death as “a heartbreaking year” and said he misses her “every single day”. He said Tyler had continued working throughout her career because she loved singing and her fans.
“Gaynor never stopped working. She loved singing, she loved her fans, and she poured her whole heart into these songs,” Sullivan said, using Tyler’s birth name, Gaynor Hopkins.
Sullivan added that Tyler’s only break came during the Covid period, when she continued to give interviews over Zoom. Between concerts, she would visit David Mackay’s studio to work on new material. “I know she would want people to hear them, and I am so proud of everything she left behind,” he said.
“Love, Light and Peace” was written by Chrissie Hammond and Terry Britten, who was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2026. Britten and Mackay produced the track, having both worked with Tyler at the beginning of her career.
Tyler first worked with Britten in 1977, when he played guitar on her debut album, “The World Starts Tonight”. Almost five decades later, he returned as a writer and producer for the final song she recorded.
Born in a council house in Neath, Tyler developed a love of music before being discovered by talent scout Roger Bell at a Swansea club. Her husky voice later earned her the nickname “the female Rod Stewart”, and she went on to build a career lasting 50 years.
After her final record contract expired, Tyler began releasing music independently. “Yes I Can” was released on New Year’s Day 2025, followed by “Only Love” in March 2026, shortly before she became unwell.
In August, fans travelled to Swansea for a celebration of Tyler’s life at Swansea Minster. November would have seen the singer touring Europe as part of her Jubilee Tour, marking 50 years since “Lost in France” entered the UK Singles Chart in 1976.
