C. Tangana has released “Milko Freestyle,” his first song in more than three years. The surprise track finds him returning to rap, the style that marked his early career, and is credited to him alongside Agorazein, the Madrid collective with which he first gained recognition.
At just under two minutes, the song looks back on events in Tangana’s life during his time away from music. Its lyrics touch on the death of his friend Milkman, becoming a father and the response to his album “El Madrileño.” Tangana and his partner, photographer Rocío Aguirre, welcomed their first child in April.
The track also recalls Milkman, the Mexican producer, rapper and creative director whose real name was Óscar Botello. He died on February 12, 2026. Tangana’s lyrics refer to travelling to Mexico and moments around Milkman’s hospitalisation and funeral.
“Milko Freestyle” arrives as Agorazein prepares to return to the stage. The group, which includes Sticky M.A., Jerv.AGZ, Fabianni and I-Ace alongside Tangana, has been inactive for several years since its last album, “Siempre,” released in 2016. It is scheduled to perform at Madrid’s Movistar Arena on November 15, 16, 17 and 18.
In recent years, Tangana also made his feature-film directorial debut with “La guitarra flamenca de Yerai Cortés,” a documentary about the flamenco artist and his family traumas. The film received Goya Awards for Best Documentary Film and Best Original Song, the latter for “Los almendros,” written with Yerai Cortés and performed by La Tania. In “Milko Freestyle,” Tangana also hints at writing more music.
