Italy’s governing majority, particularly Brothers of Italy (FdI), is considering an amendment to the budget bill that would reopen the terms of a building amnesty, with a focus on Campania, according to qualified centre-right sources. The sources confirmed reports published by Repubblica.it.

They said the proposal concerns Campania’s exclusion from the 2003 amnesty, a decision made by then regional governor Antonio Bassolino. Edmondo Cirielli, FdI’s candidate at the time, had pledged during the election campaign to address the issue.
