Gaspar was found on a road at risk of being hit by a car, still beside his deceased owner, according to the Society for the Protection of Animals and Plants of Málaga. The podenco mix was rescued and is now being cared for at the Andalusian shelter, which is seeking a family to adopt him.
Shelter staff said it was remarkable that he had survived, given the danger of traffic. They do not know how long he had been on the street or whether he had previously had a home. In a social media post, the organization said his new life was beginning at the shelter.
Gaspar has a gastric problem and needs to eat sitting on his hind legs. Caregivers say this does not prevent him from living normally and can be managed by an adoptive family. At the shelter, he eats from a special chair and gets excited when mealtime approaches.
A little over a year old, Gaspar is playful, curious and affectionate, according to his caregivers. The shelter says he needs a caring family and more individual attention than it can provide in the refuge. People interested in adopting him can contact the organization by email, including the animal’s reference number, to begin the adoption process.
