Refrigerators in dozens of supermarkets across Belgium, Sweden and Luxembourg were reportedly out of service on Monday after a suspected cyberattack, according to local media reports.
Several store managers said refrigerator temperatures suddenly rose to as much as 50 degrees Celsius. The incidents resemble attacks affecting French supermarket chains in mid-October, when attackers appeared to remotely manipulate the appliances’ defrosting systems and cause them to overheat.
It has not been confirmed whether the incidents in the three countries are connected or whether they exploited the same software vulnerabilities reported in France.
