Harley-Davidson’s Sprint 440 is a compact new offering aimed at the entry-level class. Built in India, it has a single-cylinder engine with 440cc of displacement and 27 hp—a stark contrast with the company’s Milwaukee-made Big Twins, which can have nearly two litres of displacement and weigh 300 to 400 kilograms.

The bike’s appearance includes features associated with the American marque. The question, however, is whether its smaller size and engine can still make it feel like a genuine Harley-Davidson. The test focuses on the brand’s familiar criteria: look, sound and feel.
