Imma Vietri, a Brothers of Italy member of parliament and head of the party’s group on the Chamber of Deputies’ Social Affairs Committee, says she will submit an amendment to Italy’s budget bill to reopen the terms of the 2003 building amnesty.

Vietri said she would present the proposal alongside other Brothers of Italy MPs from Campania. It would apply only to building violations carried out by March 31, 2003, and would not cover construction completed after that date.

She said the measure aims to address what she described as unequal treatment of Campania. According to Vietri, the region did not adopt the amnesty, unlike other Italian regions; it was then governed by Antonio Bassolino.
