Italy’s budget plan includes more than €1.2 billion in cuts to public disaster relief measures over the 2027–2029 period, according to spending tables attached to provisions on the rationalisation of ministry expenditure.

The reductions are part of a broader plan that would cut ministerial spending by a total of €4.7 billion over three years. The measure reduces spending allocations for ministries between 2027 and 2029, while providing for increased allocations from 2030 to 2032.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance’s table includes total cuts of €1.93 billion for 2027–2029. The largest item concerns civil protection, specifically measures for public disasters, which would be reduced by €1.21 billion.

The annual reductions listed are €448.9 million in 2027, €412.1 million in 2028 and €350.9 million in 2029. The same amounts appear in the tables providing for higher ministry spending in 2030–2032, meaning the funds would be restored three years after the cuts.
