Italy’s Senate has approved the ColtivaItalia bill, completing its passage into law after it had already received approval from the Chamber of Deputies. The Senate vote was 76 in favour, none against and 64 abstentions. Opposition parties abstained, as expected.
The measure allocates more than €1 billion to the agricultural sector. It includes €70 million for the Food Sovereignty Fund, covering soft wheat, barley, corn and plant proteins; €300 million for Italian livestock farming; and €300 million each for the competitiveness of local supply chains and the new National Olive Plan for 2026–2030. A further €150 million is earmarked for youth and women’s entrepreneurship.
Implementing decrees will be prepared to make the funds available in the first months of 2027.
