Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said the reform of public broadcaster RAI is progressing and appears to be at an advanced stage in Parliament.
Speaking to Bruno Vespa for the book “Storia della seconda Repubblica. Da Berlusconi a Meloni. Da Prodi a Schlein,” Meloni said the reform would eventually deprive The Left of an argument it has used against the government.
Meloni criticized the current Rai law, arguing that it was introduced by the left and used for years to shape the broadcaster’s governance. She said that, after her government took office, the same political forces began calling for the law to be changed because it gave politics too much influence over Rai.
The book is scheduled for publication the following day by Mondadori-Rai Libri.
