November is set to begin with substantial meteorological changes characterized by widespread rainfall. According to forecasts from the State Meteorology Agency (Aemet), the first days of the month will be dominated by precipitation. Initially, rain is expected in the Mediterranean area, specifically affecting the Catalan coast and the Balearic Islands, before extending to the western part of the peninsula later in the week.
The Canary Islands will experience particularly intense conditions this Monday. While an anticyclone situated over the British Isles maintains mostly stable weather across the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearics with few clouds, the archipelago faces a different scenario. Aemet predicts very cloudy skies with strong precipitation in the mountainous islands, including thunderstorms. In the westernmost islands, rain could be locally persistent and very heavy, prompting the agency to activate an orange alert for much of the day.
Temperature shifts will become evident starting Tuesday, when showers will be accompanied by a significant drop in temperatures nationwide. Snow is expected in mountainous areas, and Aemet has warned via social media of frost in the interior of the peninsula, where temperatures will fall below zero degrees. On Monday, maximum temperatures are projected to decrease in the northern half, the eastern third, and the Balearic Islands, with the most pronounced drop in the far northeast. In most provinces, including Madrid, Barcelona, and León, highs will remain below 20 degrees Celsius.
In contrast, southern peninsular locations such as Almería, Córdoba, Málaga, and Seville are expected to exceed 25 degrees, potentially reaching 30 degrees. Minimum temperatures will also generally decline on Monday, with the lowest readings anticipated in Ávila, Lugo, Salamanca, Segovia, Burgos, and Cuenca, where they will stay below 5 degrees. Weak frost is forecast for the Pyrenees and occasionally in the northern plateau and surrounding mountains.
