Rapper Sido will close his Berlin convenience store, Svenni’s Nachtshop, next month because rising rent has made it unaffordable to run. “We can’t afford it anymore,” he said on Sara Arslan’s podcast, Take me Späti.
The shop near Ostkreuz opened in 2021, according to t-online.de. Sido launched it with fellow rapper Bozza and Armin Bahari-Darakhshan. Sido said the idea came from a friend who already owned a Späti at the time.
Monthly rent was €4,000 when the store opened and has since risen to €6,000. “You can’t finance that with a Späti like this,” Sido said. The 45-year-old rapper ruled out plans to open another shop at a different location for now.
