Deputy Prime Minister and Forza Italia leader Antonio Tajani said that some progress could be made on pensions during negotiations over Italy’s budget plan, while acknowledging that not every objective would be achievable.

“Not everything can be obtained, but I believe that some results can be achieved on social security and pension issues,” Tajani said after a meeting with CISL Secretary-General Daniela Fumarola at the party’s headquarters. The discussion lasted about an hour.

Tajani added that the government would examine all available options for pensioners, including possible amendments to the budget measures. He also said the proposals would be assessed within the governing majority, with the aim of responding to a group he described as receiving close attention.
