Two teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after five teenagers were stabbed at a Halloween party in Chandler's Ford, Hampshire.

Police said officers were called shortly after 22:30 GMT on Saturday to Park Road after an unknown group reportedly entered the event. Two victims remain in hospital with serious injuries, including a 17-year-old who is in a life-threatening condition. The other three teenagers have been discharged.

The suspects, aged 17 and 16 and both from Southampton, remain in police custody. Two witnesses told the BBC that a fight began after a group entered the property over a garden fence, although the motive for the stabbings has not been established.

One witness described seeing an injured teenager outside the house while someone applied pressure to the wound. Police cordoned off parts of Park Road and adjoining Valley Road as the investigation continued.

Detective Chief Inspector Elizabeth Pirie said the arrests were a significant development, but appealed for anyone with information to contact officers. Police are particularly seeking footage from CCTV, mobile phones, dashcams and doorbell cameras covering Park Road and the surrounding area.

Local Neighbourhood Policing Team officers are visiting schools and colleges during the week to offer advice and reassurance and to support people affected by the incident.

The Reverend Duncan Hollands, vicar of Chandler's Ford, described the incident as shocking and said local churches had opened their doors for reflection and support. St Boniface Church in Hursley Road will be open from 09:00 to 17:00 during the week, while St Martin in the Wood in Queen's Road will be available on Mondays and Wednesdays from 15:00 to 17:00.
