The judge investigating the allocation of public housing at the Les Naus residential complex in Alicante has again asked the Valencian Parliament to provide a recording of former councillor Antonio Gallego’s appearance before its inquiry committee. The request was first made in an official letter on September 18, according to a court order issued on October 30.
The judge has ordered that a further letter be sent to the Corts Valencianes as a reminder to comply. The regional parliament is chaired by Llanos Massó of Vox.
Gallego, a former member of Alicante’s city council for the People’s Party, appeared before the committee on July 2. During his testimony, he contradicted accounts given by Mayor Luis Barcala and former urban planning councillor Rocío Gómez, who is under investigation in the case.
In testimony to the judge, Gallego also said that Rocío Gil, then the urban planning councillor and now under investigation, had declined to answer a question about Les Naus during a municipal plenary session, citing family interests. He said she had given him a written response about the development minutes before the meeting.
