Roberto Vannacci, leader of Futuro Nazionale, said he would consider attending a dinner organized to commemorate the March on Rome, calling the October 28, 1922, event a historical date.

Speaking to reporters in Milan, Vannacci said he saw no problem with people interested in history gathering to revisit events from the past. Asked whether he would take part in such an initiative, he replied that although he had not attended one, he would accept an invitation to a conference, dinner or other event recalling a historical event without making distinctions.

Vannacci compared the gatherings with events commemorating Italian unification or the French Revolution. Responding to a question about fascist symbols displayed at some of the dinners, he asked whether anyone had proposed reconstituting the Fascist Party at those events.

On the possibility of attending April 25 celebrations, Vannacci said he would do so if the occasion became a conciliatory holiday. He added that he did not feel inclined to participate while the date continued, in his view, to be used to divide people into “good” and “bad.”
