Fernanda Bolsonaro accompanied her husband, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, and their two daughters to Miami, where the family arrived on Wednesday the 28th. Flávio left Brazil after losing the election to President Lula, according to the report.
Fernanda, 46, is a dentist specializing in orthodontics and facial orthopedics. She also served for eight years as an Air Force lieutenant. Married to Flávio since 2010, she had largely stayed out of public life before he announced his presidential candidacy in December 2025.
During the campaign, she appeared alongside him at major events, including party gatherings, debates and rallies. At a September 7 event on São Paulo’s Paulista Avenue, she delivered a brief speech, citing the Bible before handing the microphone to her husband. At an earlier rally in Rio de Janeiro, she wrote “Brazil will win” on the back of his shirt.
Fernanda became an important part of the campaign’s effort to portray Flávio as more moderate than his father, Jair Bolsonaro. In a campaign video aimed at women, she described her husband as patient, prepared and open to dialogue, and said she had helped change and “re-educate” him. The article notes that this message contrasts with the wording of a letter Flávio released in the United States, in which he refused to accept his defeat and, in early versions, described himself as president.
Her visibility also increased amid a dispute between Flávio and Michelle Bolsonaro, Jair Bolsonaro’s wife. After Michelle said her stepson had mistreated her, Fernanda responded on social media that she saw her husband as respectful, affectionate and devoted to their daughters.
Fernanda has spoken about the role of faith in their family. She helped Flávio, who had been Baptist, convert to Catholicism so they could marry in a Catholic chapel. Both were also baptized in 2024 at Comunidade das Nações, a church based in Brasília. In campaign videos, Fernanda described the family’s participation in the election as “a mission from God.”
The report also revisits the couple’s involvement in the “rachadinha” case, concerning the alleged diversion of funds from staff salaries in Flávio’s office. Rio de Janeiro prosecutors accused Fernanda and her husband in 2020, citing a deposit from Fabrício Queiroz shortly before the couple paid the deposit on an apartment, as well as other transfers. Prosecutors alleged that Flávio laundered R$638,000 through apartment transactions, with Fernanda listed as a co-owner. The case was dismissed after evidence was annulled by Brazil’s Superior Court of Justice and Supreme Federal Court. Flávio’s press office said the allegations were unfounded and had not been accepted by the courts due to a lack of proof.
