Senator Flávio Bolsonaro made his first public appearance since leaving Brazil at an evangelical church service in Florida on Sunday. He attended with his brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, and his wife, Fernanda Bolsonaro.
The service took place at Celeiro, a church led by pastor José Maurício Fernandes, known as Paizão. In a video shared on social media, the pastor addressed Flávio, saying that with Jesus, “you don’t lose,” and that even losing means winning.
Flávio has been in the United States since Wednesday. After losing this year’s presidential election, he questioned the result and said he would seek to have the vote annulled. In the US, he published a letter claiming to be Brazil’s rightful elected president.
On Friday, Flávio said that leaving Brazil was not a sign of weakness and again suggested, without presenting evidence, that the election result was fraudulent. He said he and his wife had decided to travel to the United States together. He also thanked the nearly 60 million people who voted for him, saying their support gave him strength and courage.
The report said Flávio’s move echoes that of his father, who went to the United States in late 2022 without acknowledging his defeat to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. It also reported that major figures on the right had recognized Lula’s victory, leaving Flávio politically isolated.
Celeiro House of Prayer was founded in 2025 by pastor André Fernandes and his wife, Quézia, after Fernandes split from the Lagoinha Baptist Church, led by André Valadão. Fernandes has maintained ties with the Bolsonaro family and endorsed Flávio’s presidential candidacy during a service in September.
