Great Wall Motor has opened orders in Spain for the GWM Haval H7, a five-seat SUV measuring 4.8 metres long. Its squared-off styling, high bonnet and pronounced wheel arches give it a rugged look, although its overall concept is closer to a family SUV than a specialist off-roader.

The H7 has a 2.74-metre wheelbase and 210 millimetres of ground clearance. Some versions can wade through water up to 380 millimetres deep, with the maker’s figures pointing to greater off-road suitability for models with all-wheel drive.

Inside, the dashboard features a 15.6-inch multimedia screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display. Great Wall Motor’s Coffee OS 3.0 handles connectivity, while higher-spec versions add a head-up display. Available equipment also includes wireless phone charging and electrically adjustable front seats with lumbar support, heating and ventilation. The range comes in Explore and Advance trim levels.

Five powertrain configurations are offered. The entry-level petrol model has a 2.0-litre engine producing 215 hp and all-wheel drive. Two self-charging hybrids deliver 247 hp, with either front- or all-wheel drive.

The plug-in hybrid range starts with a 326 hp front-wheel-drive model. It is rated for up to 150 kilometres of electric driving in the combined WLTP cycle, or 202 kilometres in urban use. At the top of the range, the H7 PHEV Hi4 pairs a combustion engine with two electric motors to produce 435 hp and all-wheel drive. Great Wall Motor quotes a 0–100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds and combined electric range of up to 129 kilometres for this version.

Promotional prices start at €28,000 for the entry-level self-charging hybrid. All-wheel-drive versions start at €32,500, while the least expensive plug-in hybrid is listed from €29,625. The 435 hp PHEV Hi4 costs €34,125. The stated prices depend on commercial offers and financing; plug-in hybrid prices also include an advance of €2,250 linked to the Auto+ state aid scheme, subject to eligibility.
