Manchester City beat RB Leipzig 3-2 in the Champions League group stage, with Erling Haaland’s 78th-minute goal settling a match in which Leipzig twice came from behind. The result ended Leipzig’s run of five home victories in all competitions without conceding a goal.

City took the lead in the 37th minute when Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba put the ball into his own net while attempting to clear a cross. Ridle Baku equalised in the 49th minute, but Enzo Fernández restored City’s advantage with a header in the 58th. Antonio Nusa brought Leipzig level again three minutes later. Haaland then scored the winner with his first chance of the match, according to the match report.

Leipzig had the greater share of possession during parts of the first half and continued to push after Baku’s equaliser. Christoph Baumgartner came close to scoring after the break, but City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma saved his shot. Baku’s goal, struck from a tight angle, followed shortly afterwards.

The defeat was Leipzig’s third in the competition, following 4-1 losses to Como and Real Madrid. The German side’s only win so far was a 1-0 result against PSV Eindhoven. City, meanwhile, recorded a third consecutive Champions League victory.
