Spanish media showered Bayern Munich with praise after the German side won 2-0 at Atlético Madrid. Marca called Bayern the best team to have visited the Metropolitano this year and described the performance as “pure elite.”
AS said Bayern had taken control of the stadium, portraying the visitors as quicker, more agile and more physically imposing. The newspaper described their pressure as suffocating and praised the team’s intensity.
Konrad Laimer drew particular attention. The midfielder scored Bayern’s second goal in the 74th minute and was named player of the match by UEFA. AS wrote that he ran as if he would never tire and seemed to “fly” in the second half.
Marca called the defeat a wake-up call for Atlético. Mundo Deportivo said Diego Simeone’s side remained far from Bayern’s level, despite the Munich team arriving in Madrid with significant absences in attack.
