Zeekr has brought the 9X to Spain, entering the luxury SUV segment with a plug-in hybrid that produces 897 hp and starts at €121,500. The brand, part of the Geely group, is positioning the six-seat model as a technology-focused alternative in a category traditionally led by European manufacturers.
Presented in Barcelona in early October, the 9X is initially offered in the Ultra AWD version, with all-wheel drive. At 5.24 metres long, it is designed around spaciousness and passenger comfort. Its exterior features a large front grille and a rear light strip; Zeekr says the design of both the body and cabin draws inspiration from large yachts.
The cabin has three rows, each with two individual seats. The second-row seats recline by up to 145 degrees and include electric leg rests, while the third-row seats have electric adjustment, heating and backrests that recline by up to 135 degrees. The front and second-row seats also offer heating, ventilation and massage. Electric movement of the central seats helps passengers reach the rear row. Nappa leather and Nordic wood trim complete the interior.
The equipment includes a Naim audio system with 32 speakers and eight seat-mounted haptic transducers. Rear passengers have a movable 17-inch OLED ceiling screen with 3K resolution, while the dashboard has two 16-inch OLED displays and a head-up display with an area equivalent to 47 inches. The SUV also has a refrigerator between the central seats, able to cool to -6 degrees Celsius or heat to 50 degrees.
The plug-in hybrid system pairs two electric motors with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that operates as a generator to extend driving range. Zeekr quotes combined output of 897 hp and 935 Nm of torque, with a 0–100 km/h time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h.
Its 55.1 kWh battery provides an advertised electric range of up to 179 kilometres, while the claimed combined range is 737 kilometres. The 900-volt electrical architecture supports DC charging at up to 330 kW. According to Zeekr, charging from 10% to 80% takes 9.5 minutes.
The 9X uses adaptive dual-chamber air suspension and dual-valve electromagnetic dampers. It also offers driving modes for off-road use and driver-assistance functions based on LiDAR, cameras and other sensors, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping and centring features.
